Dr. Jamie Smith
Dr. Jamie Smith is originally from Monroe, Georgia – a small-town East of Atlanta. After graduating high school, she attended North Georgia College and State University (NGCSU) in the southern Appalachian town of Dahlonega, Georgia. It was there in 1999 that she and Dr. Dan Smith met at a coffee shop. (He was singing Lynyrd Skynyrd karaoke.) After they were married and Dr. Dan Smith got discharged from the Army, they moved back to Oklahoma, Dan’s home state. She attended Oklahoma State University at Stillwater where she received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. She then went on to get a master’s degree in hospital administration. Dr. Smith attended the University of Oklahoma College of dentistry from 2006-2010 where she earned her D.D.S. During dental school Dr. Smith accepted a commission in the Air Force and was given the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
Upon graduation Dr. Smith accepted an invitation to attend a 1-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) in Biloxi, Mississippi, where she earned credentials in several advanced procedures, including I.V. sedation. Dr. Smith earned many awards and accolades in her 12 years in service with the U.S. Air force (we literally have an attic full of them), she served in Biloxi, Mississippi, Valdosta, Georgia, Sumter, South Carolina, (every one of these places have alligators) and finally as Chief of Dental Services, at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (sadly, no alligators). In 2022 the Smith family decided their combined 16 years of service (and moving all over the place) was plenty, so Dr. Smith ended her term of service with the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, commissioned into the Air National Guard, and was lucky enough to find a wonderful practice in Paris, Texas. She is excited for the challenges of private practice, and for putting down roots in a quiet small-town setting.
In her off time, Dr. Smith enjoys yoga, hanging out with her two awesome kids, Jackson (Hoot) Smith and Lillian (Willie) Smith, playing Beat Saber on V.R., riding ATVs, cooking, and audiobooks.
Dr. Daniel Smith
Dr. Daniel (Dan) Smith is from Foyil, Oklahoma (Go Panthers!) a very small town northeast of Tulsa. After graduating high school, Dan enlisted in the Army as an infantryman. He went to basic training, AIT, and Airborne School at Uncle Sam’s School for misguided boys, Fort Benning Georgia. He was then stationed at Camp Frank D. Merrill in Dahlonega, Georgia, which is the mountain phase of the RANGER school. It was during his time in Dahlonega that Dan got the attention of his wife, Dr. Jamie Smith, with what must have been a stirring karaoke rendition of Sweet Home Alabama. After Dan completed his term of service with the Army, the young couple moved back to Oklahoma. Dan used his Montgomery G.I. Bill to attend Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, Oklahoma (Pistols Firing!) where he earned the first bachelor’s degree in the Smith family. After college Dan pursued his dream of owning a small business. After years of work and dedication Dan found himself to be a successful businessman in the firearms industry. But the business was travel-based and was difficult for his young family to bear. At 35, Dan decided to prioritize family and change careers. While at OSU Dan played rugby and took a horrific hit to his face that severely damaged his teeth. A dentist in Tulsa that Dr. Jamie Smith assisted at the time did Dan the incredible, amazing favor of repairing his teeth and making him feel normal again. Dan has always found that act inspirational and impossible to repay. While contemplating his career change, his dental history, and a conversation with a good friend, Dan set himself on the path to be a dentist.
Dr. Dan Smith had none of the prerequisites for dental school in his previous bachelor’s degree, which is in Spanish, and knowing how competitive dental school was, he set himself the goal of straight A’s in the prerequisites. Dr. Smith enrolled himself in the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) and went to work. Dr. Smith applied to and was accepted to the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry (Boomer Sooner!) with a 4.0 through the prerequisites as well as a very competitive Dental Admission Test score. Dr. Smith’s class was composed of less than the top half of 1 percent of applicants. Dr. Smith is very proud to be in the graduating class of 2023 from OU College of Dentistry and is very excited to meet and serve the people of Paris, Texas.
While not working you can find Dr. Smith outside. He loves anything outdoors: hunting, fishing, and just playing around in the woods or on the water. He loves hunting mushrooms and arrowheads, canoeing, and riding ATVs. He enjoys his two amazing kids, Hoot and Willie Smith, and loves taking them to the range or riding four wheelers. Dr. Smith is excited to be in Texas and can’t wait to put down some Okie roots in a small Texican town.
